No Room For Illegality! — NPA, Police Tighten Ties

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Godwin Kudzo Tamakloe, has intensified collaboration with the Ghana Police Service as part of renewed efforts to strengthen regulation, compliance, and operational discipline within Ghana’s petroleum downstream industry.

The move follows a high-level courtesy visit by the NPA Chief Executive to the Western Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service, Frank Abrokwah.

The meeting formed part of broader institutional efforts aimed at tightening regulatory enforcement and safeguarding the integrity of Ghana’s petroleum sector.

Accompanying the NPA Chief Executive were Deputy Chief Executive of the Authority, Sheila Addo, and other senior officials of the Authority.

Also present at the meeting was George Teye Nyaunu, together with executive members of the Tanker Drivers Union.

Discussions during the engagement focused on strengthening inter-agency cooperation to improve operational efficiency, enforce compliance standards, and ensure ethical conduct among industry players operating within the petroleum downstream sector.

Mr Tamakloe underscored the critical role of the Ghana Police Service in supporting the NPA’s mandate and maintaining order within the sector.

According to him, effective collaboration between the Police Service and the NPA remains essential in tackling illegal activities, enforcing petroleum regulations, and protecting the safety of the public.

He noted that stronger institutional cooperation would significantly enhance public confidence in the sector while also ensuring that operators comply strictly with established industry standards and regulations.

The NPA Chief Executive further stressed that the Authority remains committed to promoting transparency, discipline, and professionalism across the petroleum value chain.

For his part, DCOP Frank Abrokwah reaffirmed the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to supporting the regulatory mandate of the NPA and ensuring law and order within the petroleum industry.

He assured the Authority of the Police Service’s readiness to collaborate in enforcing regulations and addressing activities that undermine the smooth operation of the sector.

Stakeholders at the meeting acknowledged that the petroleum downstream sector remains a vital component of Ghana’s economy and therefore requires strong regulatory enforcement and strategic institutional cooperation to sustain efficiency and public trust.
